I hope to one day to see this painting, Karen. And it's true, "most are afraid of long pauses and pile ups of misery". But the truth is, in the long pauses, the depths of friendship are found.
Karen, oh how I wish I could sit with you (only 1 or 2 pats, I promise) as you walk another loved one towards home. And thank you for showing us by your own words what is helpful and what not to say to one who is grieving. I think back on our conversations about being ministers wives, and you were the first one I wanted to tell when a table of women were discussing the need for more young adults in our church this week, and one looked at me and said point-blank, "You need to do something about that." (Such as....trying to get pregnant at 70, maybe?) I love your writing and your gentle wit. Thank you, friend.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful heart Karen. The reason this portrait is so amazing is that is so reflects amazing Brent so well.

You will see it!

I miss you Maggie. Let's connect when we can.
Than k you for helping us see and hold on to those treasures.
My last conversation with Brent was at Marion's Art Show - at St. P&P. I look forward to viewing this masterpiece. D
